Dog Artist Interview / Jill Beninato

Today I am posting a video cast from a dog artist interview I did with Jill Beninato. Jill is a very talented and well known pet photographer working in Virginia Beach. She recently invited me to be a part of her Dogs Rule Fat Book project. She asked 13 artists to submit 14 hand crafted dog art pages to create a stunning and one of a kind handmade book project. Each artist received a copy of the fatbook and the 14th book will be auctioned off to benefit A Place to Bark. The book was recently written up in Bark magazine.

This video contains artwork from that book. It is my hope that I will be able to do interviews over the next couple of months with each and every artist in the book. I may not have time to do actual video casts of each interview but I will at least be able to present them as podcasts. This short little video cast has excerpts from a 20 minute interview I did with Jill last night. Later this weekend I will try to post a link to that longer unedited rambling conversation we had for anyone that may be interested.

Great interview and art, Rebecca. Very exciting. Jill, congratulations for doing such an extraordinary, unique and beautiful collaboration and resulting product.

As usual, Becca, your creativity in putting this all together and getting out in the world is awesome!

Thank you for your contribution. AND, now, for those of us pulled in by the technology also - How did you produce this? iMovie, after photographing the pages, and Skype for the interview are my guesses. How right or wrong, am I?

I anxiously await your next creative production here!

With love and appreciation,
Sheila

Great job Rebecca...you make this all look so easy! Great use of the book images and thanks for editing so I don't sound like a complete babbling idiot! I really enjoyed chatting with you on the phone as well...you are now the official techinal guru of the sisterhood!

Sheila-
yep, i-movie , skype and audio software for the mac called wire-tap. I may talk more about the making of it this weekend, along with a link to our longer conversation including messy disconnects, and background noise.
It was probably a 6 hour editing project and I could have gone much longer, but you have to stop at some point. I am really happy with this one. I felt I had a story to tell, and Jill was such a sweetheart and so natural on the phone so she made that part easy for me.

That. Is. Awesome!

Really funny and informative. I loved hearing about the inspiration and process Jill went through to get these 14 books together. And I am more flattered than ever to have been included.

Rebecca hi!
What a wonderful way to capture an interview. I've read ones before but there is no substitute for hearing the voice of an artist. Great job editing too. A tremendous collaboration of sight and sound! Thanks for sharing with all of us and for being included in this one of a kind venture!! Wendy
