Tickled Pink

"Pixie"
"Persian Pink" created at colourlovers.com

Here at Art Paw I am sort of known for my rich reds, oranges and swampy greens. I have however on occasion tried my hand at Pink. The palette above is called "Persian Pink". Pixie is an older kitty cat project and I think pink suits her well.

Pink Color Trivia:
In 1968, Mary Kay Ash, purchased the first Pink Cadillac, which eventually became the trademark of her company.

In Japan, the color pink has a masculine association. The annual spring blooming of the pink-blossomed cherry trees (the Sakura) is said to represent the young Japanese warriors who fell in battle in the prime of life (the Samurai).

"Pink" is a song by Aerosmith.

Japanese stoner/drone band Boris had a 2005 album called Pink.

The Pink House is the residence of the President of Argentina.

When you think pink is it all about cotton candy and cool jazzy panthers? Leave me a comment and tell me more about the color pink!

Pink used to be masculine in Western culture, too--light blue was seen as more calm and subdued, and was associated with little girls, and pink, seen as the "stronger" color, was used for little boys. I have read that it switched to the way we now think of them around the turn of the twentieth century (though wikipedia says this happened as recently as the 1940s).

In 1947, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli introduced the color "hot pink" to western fashion. She dubbed the shade "Shocking Pink," though today the color is more well-known as "magenta."

I Love the pink for this kitty and the texture in the background is perfect. It really picks up on the shape of her eyes and her beautiful coloring. Perfect!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Cool!!
Here is my personal pink trivia...

When I was really small (2 - 6 yrs old?)whenever we would visit my grandparents (we lived on west coast and would visit on the east coast) my grandmother used to dress and my sister Julie up in matching outfits... But she always got the pink outfit, and I always got the yellow one. It wasn't her fault at all, but I resented it (not her, just the fact that my graqndma never let ME wear the pink)!!!. That bothered me so much!!!

Then, as a teenager I despised pink. It was the antithesis of all I epitomized - pink said "preppy" and I was known as a "punk" (although I hated that word -- as a nonconformist, I did not like labels!!)

But here I am, an adult, and I embrace pink! (I can wear it any time I want now that I choose my own wardrobe, too!) :) Pink is fun, lighthearted and lifts my spirits. I especially like my pinks bright - none of the too-soft pink shades for me.
