New Saint Bernard Art

"Clyde" ( see all proofs)
This handsome pup is Clyde. I am usually hesitant to work on hard profile portraits however in this case I think it turned out really nice. Sometimes when a pup is staring off the canvas in one direction your eye will follow that stare. I think in Clyde's case we are left wondering what he is thinking about and his noble calm expression tells us a lot about him.

About the Art: This was a painterly project and if you check out his proofing set you will see some softer versions. This sample has a crisp posterize effect on top of the painterly work. Lately I have been wanting to see more contrast in my work and I have been playing more with filters on top of the smudge work.

I love it! He has that, "I'm ready to save someone on top of that mountain, just place that keg of brandy around my neck and I'm off!" look. The radiating beams really give him that heroic look.

Thanks Sheila! I am liking this new ground a lot. I agree, the beams are happy and heroic.

Beautiful! Clyde is the perfect name for this dog. His profile is very much like a Bernese Mountain dog! These are gentle giants!

Thank you so much for this beautiful portrait. I chose the right artist for the gift certificate. I've been telling and showing this photo to everyone! Thanks again. This is a great memorial to my boyfriend's dog, Clyde.

Thanks for the praise everyone. It has been a hard week and you guys have made it a lot better.

Danielle, your boyfriend was so great to work with. In our conversations I could tell what a huge hole Clyde has left in his heart. He is so lucky to have someone like you in his life that understands how deep and complex pet grief can be.

Hey James. Thanks for stopping by. You are welcome, it was an honor to get to play with this "Gentle Giant", as Manon so correctly named him.
